Thanks to everyone for the kind birthday wishes!!!!

We had a great time in Cleveland …the rock and roll hall of fame was quite enlightening.

I have to say that while I was taking it all in, I found myself several times overcome with a feeling of overwhelming loss and profound sadness. Having been involved in the “music business” for most of my life, I can't help but be acutely aware of how much things have changed in the last 30 years or so, from a time where the artists we supported and idolized have become “museum pieces” and are destined to go the way of the dinosaurs…as the industry they helped create vanishes before our eyes.

There will never again be a Beatles, Elvis, Les Paul, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and so on. It is doubtful that anyone will ever again sell anywhere close to 10 million copies of any song/album ever again, or pioneer a new recording technique, instrument, or style of music that so much defines our culture and encompasses multiple generations.

We are at a threshold where very little we embrace today will survive into tomorrows archives as having been relevant. Future generations will care about Britney, Miley, Fallout Boy, etc about as much as we care about Flock of Seagulls, Aqua, or New Kids on the Block…but yet, somehow (thankfully) Mick Jagger endures, but sells few albums anymore, as we download everything for free.

At one point during my visit I had just marveled at the display of an old Studer Four track recorder that had once been used by EMI to record hits by the Beatles, and upon walking away I overheard a man who appeared to be in his 40's tell his wife and kids “..and that's one of them old TURNTABLES….look at that!” ???????????AAAAAAAARGGGGGGH!

Really fucking sad….too bad there was no "plaster caster" exhibit... go ahead and explain that to your kids , dude!

So this week its back to finishing mixing the upcoming NAIL CD…

Because for some reason I still love what I do and how music makes me feel, And with any luck, there are still enough of us out there who can keep the spark alive and inject some hope…for at least another 30 years or so, after which it probably won't matter much anyway.

Cheers…and ROCK ON !!!!!
