Hi there Nailheads...
Sorry, but this week's update won't be in the form of one of our cutting-edge video presentations. Time was limited this week...

This week saw our much anticipated album review in London 's Scene Magazine, which we are proud to say was very well received. We have included a transcript below, since the magazine contents are not available online so we can't provide the usual link.

Scene Review; Jan31, 2008
NAIL S/T (Indie)

London-based metal band Nail's self-titled debut full-length CD should go over well with headbangers everywhere as the forcefully authoritative vocal work, max-power guitar playing and expert production work of Helix alumni Cindy and Rainer Wiechmann create a wall of sound that's hard to ignore. There are strong melodic elements at work here as well as more than a few traces of (dare I say it?) atmospheric spaciness in the mix. These stylistic turns generally serve to raise Nail several notches above a field of contenders who think leather and studs and lots of volume will carry the day. The only misstep here may have been the tactlessly-overdone metal-minx putdown slammer “F*** Off And Die”, which sounds out of place among the otherwise polished material here. – Rod Nicholson Performance: B-/Production: B+

... in our defense, we wish to go on record as saying that FOAD was the song that almost never made the album, but we did finally decide to include it simply because it is a simplistic head banging totally intended as tongue-in-cheek fun song to perform live, and it displays a sense of humor that is very much “us” and adds a lighter side to an otherwise fairly serious album…that's the story, and we're sticking to it... so there!

Also, we have been picked up by an online retailer out of Holland which will be providing our music for download online in the very near future. The site is: www.melodicdownloads.com

They represent artists such as Winger, Dokken, Night Ranger, Gary Barden, and a slew of “classic metal” artists in the overseas market. We are grateful that they have added us to their roster.

The cost per track will be EUR .99 or EUR9.99 for the entire album. We had considered I-Tunes, and may still do so in the future, but for now going with the other retailer means that the downloads are open to everyone, not just I-pod owners/users. The files are hi-res 256K MP-3 files, and can be added to any portable MP-3 device, as well as your computer, of course.

We would also like to mention that NAIL has been nominated for a London Music Award, in the “favorite Metal band” category, Rainer has been nominated in the “producer” category, and Mole Studio in the Favorite Studio category. Everyone's vote counts, and of course we would like to see all our fans voting on our behalf, so... please use the below link to cast your vote, and hopefully we will take home the gold, so to speak!!!

The voting has not yet officially opened, but we are told that it will commence in the coming week or so, so please check back periodically.

Finally, beginning this week, our bassist Darcy will be spending a couple of weeks in Mexico basking in the sun, drinking Tequilas, and generally making a sloth of himself while the rest of us get to enjoy the Canadian winter at its finest…so have fun, but don't rub it in too much when you get back! Consequently, the next couple of updates will have to be sans-Darcy.

In the meantime we will be busy putting together the storyboard ideas for the video shoot for “Spider” which will commence later this month… we will of course keep everyone posted as this progresses.

Until next time…
Rhino!
